PUMPING STATIONS & WASTEWATER TREATMENT NETWORK - PUERTO CORTES

CUSTOMER: SADE CGTH - VEOLIA
LOCATION: PUERTO CORTES, HONDURAS
Missions:

Design, supply and installation of the equipment for 23 pumping stations built for Puerto Cortes' wastewater treatment plant: pumping, screening, odor control, electrical power, valves, fittings, sluices and a SCADA system. FELJAS & MASSON was also involved in the studies to determine hydraulic equipment needs.

The F&M solution:
Polyester pumping tanks were prefabricated in France and supplied in order to deliver a cost-effective project in this coastal city where the water-table is close to sea level. A SCADA (remote control system) was installed to operate the treatment plant's pumping stations by radio transmission, and a supervision center was set up for real-time control of the operating status of pumps, alarms, remote controls, etc.
Key data:
The city of Puerto Cortes in the North of Honduras lies on the Caribbean Sea. With a population of 200,000, it is the country's main maritime port. SADE CGTH was appointed to build the wastewater treatment plant. Feljas et Masson was the specialized subcontractor responsible for designing and supplying the equipment for 23 wastewater pumping stations and for installing a remote management system (SCADA). The project was a world first in terms of funding, with the World Bank providing direct funding to the city, bypassing ministerial intermediaries.
